Notes from Jessica’s Desk

Tēnā koutou AGAC whānau!

Having just started my role here at AGAC as your Parish Administrator, I thought I’d share a bit about myself.

I haven’t long returned to Aotearoa from a ministry internship at St Albans Cathedral in the UK where I mainly served in liturgical roles and assisted the work of the Youth Chaplain. It was a wonderful place to be a part of for a time and I learnt a lot!

Before my OE, I was at Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland as the Administrator - Faith & Spirituality. I worked closely with the Maclaurin Chaplaincy to assist them in their ministry, and also with my colleagues in the Student Wellbeing, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team. I’m also a graduate, having studied philosophy at a postgraduate level and graphic design.

I have been involved in the Church all my life. I’ve spent time at St John’s Campbells Bay and Holy Trinity Cathedral, the latter of which I was involved as a lay liturgist and Diocesan and General Synod representative. I’ve also been involved in Diocesan groups such as ADJust: Diocese of Auckland Young Anglicans for Social Justice, and the Community of Ordinary Saints.

As your Parish Administrator, I will be based in the office at Holy Cross on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 5pm. You can contact me by email or on the office phone. On my ‘off’ days, I will be working as the Parish Administrator and interim Children’s Worker at St John the Baptist, Northcote. It is a pleasure to be with you now as we journey together into this next season! I look forward to getting to know you all and contributing to the wonderful ministries you share in this place.

Ngā manaakitanga, Jessica Hughes
