Notes from Yukiko’s Desk
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
It's been quite an erratic winter, and although we still have several more weeks of this cold season, the first blooms of spring are starting to emerge in our garden. I believe yours too. Some of the trees are still bare. Yet, over the last few weeks, we've seen daffodils, crocuses, hellebores, and winter aconite pushing their way through the soil.
As you know, we moved into this house at the end of summer when many flowers begin to finish their blooming season. Being in the garden, we knew that the previous owners loved gardening, but had little idea what they planted. When I see new shoots coming up, I thank God for bringing me great joy!
The photos of the cover of this newsletter were taken in our garden. A hellebore flower is just beginning to open. Snowdrops are another sure sign of spring. They produce one very small, pendulous bell-shaped white flower which hangs off its stalk like a “drop” before opening. Looking closely, some of the trees are showing off their buds. I will miss that while I am away. Hopefully, Cheen is taking care of our yard, and when I come back, I will find more joy there!
On this coming Monday 20th, I am leaving for Japan. If I need to be contacted, please email me. Otherwise, please contact Les, Bruce or Cheen (0211334426). While I am away, Les is taking a service on 26th, and Colleen on 2 nd of August.
Hope you will find joy in the little moments this season. I will try that in hot Japan!
Yukiko
