Notes from Yukiko’s Desk
Dear AGAC family,
I wonder how often you pause in the midst of a busy day to simply give thanks. It seems so simple, yet in our hectic lives, gratitude often takes a backseat.This week’s Psalm, Psalm 105: 1 encourages us to do that.
Give thanks to the Lord and call upon his Name;
make known his deeds among the peoples.
This Psalm addresses a forgetful community, which has lost touch with the God of exodus. Israel is invited to seek its God by remembering the wonderful works God has done. The remembering, however, is not an act of nostalgia, but a way of defining to a future that is given only by remembering God.
We too are invited to celebrate all our God has done for the Hebrews and for us. One of the blessings of getting older is having so much more life to reflect back on, just as the Hebrew nation has a long history to remember!
As you look back on your life, where do you see the hand of God at work? What has God done in your life recently that you’re thankful for? It is a good time to pause and give thanks to God!
I am currently on leave. If I need to be contacted, please email me. Otherwise, please contact Les, Bruce or Cheen (0211334426). Les is taking a service on 26th, and Colleen on 2 nd of August. I will be thinking of you and praying for you from a hot Japan.
Please stay warm, I will try to stay cool if I can!
Yukiko
