Notes from Yukiko’s Desk

Dear AGAC family

Thanks to your prayers, I came back to Auckland safely onMonday this week. It was extremely hot over there. Due to the intense heats, a lot of people were carrying little fans or UV umbrellas. I found it quite fascinating to see that some people even wear jackets with built-in fans! While I was there, as you may know, a M 7.1 earthquake hit Kumamoto (southwestern Japan) which caused significant destruction and loss of life. Though Hiroshima is 350 km away from Kumamoto, I felt it. It was scary. The survivors are still facing intense heat and are forced to evacuate to crowded shelters. Please join me in praying for those affected by the earthquakes there.

I was not planning to go to Japan again, but I needed to do so because my mother’s physical and cognitive health is weakening dramatically due to her dementia. My father found it hard to take care of her at home. While taking care of my mother, we made important decisions to move forward. This year happens to be their 60th wedding anniversary, and we were able to celebrate this special milestone together. It was their first cake-cut in their 60 years of marriage! I am really glad I went home.

While I was away, I learned that Les was admitted to hospital. Please pray for his full recovery and also for June and the rest of the family.

When I went to Holy Cross on my return, I was excited to see a beautiful grand piano! I hope and believe God will bless many people with this lovely gift. I am also happy to return to my garden! Spring is nearly here!

Every blessing,

Yukiko
